The Tree of Life

The Hermetic Qabalah's map of the universe and the soul.

The Tree of Life is a diagram of ten spheres (sephiroth) joined by twenty-two paths. In Jewish Kabbalah it maps how the divine unfolds into creation. Renaissance Christian scholars adapted it, and the Golden Dawn made it the filing cabinet of Western magic: planets, tarot trumps, Hebrew letters, colours, gods and grades all hang on it.

Hermetic Qabalah (often spelled with a Q) is a Western esoteric adaptation. It differs in aims and assumptions from Jewish Kabbalah, a living religious tradition with its own teachers.
