Journey Atlas
An illustrated map of the three worlds, drawn from your own drum journeys: a sky that turns from day to dusk to night as it does where you are, hills under a glowing horizon, a cavern with a still pool, and the world tree standing through all three with a light climbing its trunk. Tap a world to mark a place and give it a sign — a cave, a pool, a door, a fire, a mountain; drag places and helpers to where they belong; tie a place to the doorway you reach it from, and a path is drawn from the entrance on the horizon; tap a world's name to enter it and see it large. Your journeys are counted in each band and the helpers you have met — taken from your journey record or added by hand, each with a sign of its own — stand on the map with notes on how each came. Relabel the bands with the tree of five traditions: Harner's three worlds, the Altaic birch with nine notches, Yggdrasil and its three wells, the banded Sámi drum, the Maya ceiba. And beside your helpers, a bestiary of what the sources actually recorded of each animal — the bear sent home with ceremony, Odin's ravens and the Haida's Raven, the horse that is the drum — not a book of meanings. Save the map as a picture or as text.
