Recording & Testing Visions
Learning from John Dee's method — record exactly, interpret later, verify.
John Dee was a mathematician first, and he approached his angelic sessions (which he called Actions) like a careful scientist. Edward Kelley gazed into the stone; Dee wrote everything down as it happened — what Kelley saw, what was said, the time, even interruptions. Years later Méric Casaubon published a large part of these records (1659), and the original manuscripts survive. Their value today comes from that meticulous record-keeping.
