Scrying
A surface to gaze into: a black mirror, a bowl of water, a crystal, a candle flame or rising smoke, each with its lore and a glimpse before you begin, the room drawn as the lesson sets it, a timed session, soft sound and a line for the moments something appears. Then the three stages of the Mirror track: record what you perceived at once, with clarity as a crystal clearing; interpret it later and test what came through; and check concrete details over a week, a month and three months, keeping the misses. See which medium suits you on a pentagon, and keep to three sessions a week. Try Troxler's fading for yourself: hold your eyes still on a cross and watch soft colours vanish, part of what a long gaze does. Touch the surfaces — ripple the water, wipe the mist from the crystal, stir the smoke, lean the flame, tilt the mirror into darkness — sketch what you saw beside the written record, and tap a marked moment to start the record at it. During the gaze, tap what appears — clouding, a light, a face, a word — and each is kept at its moment to begin the record; or scry with a scribe, who writes what you say as Dee wrote for Kelley. And see why a crystal ball is full of pictures: it is a lens, and the candle's image swings through it as you move the candle.
