The Moon
See the Moon as it looks — its seas and bright craters lit by the Sun, the dark side faint with earthshine, drawn larger or smaller as it comes nearer or goes further, and turned north-up or as it stands in your sky at that moment; tap to name the seas, and drag across it to move through the days. Drag the Moon round its orbit, slide through the days or play the month to see any date's phase; today's phase, sign and lunar mansion and what they favour, the night's best viewing time, moonrise and moonset, the void-of-course Moon, distance and supermoons, eclipses for the next two years, the year's named full moons, your birth Moon and lunar return, planting by the Moon, and a month calendar — and a diary of how you feel under each Moon. The Moon is also given as its Hindu tithi and nakshatra, and the Islamic, Hebrew, Hindu and Chinese ways of counting the month are set beside it. The 28 mansions are drawn as a wheel round the signs, with the Moon, the Sun and the Moon's next 27 nights on it; tap a mansion for when the Moon next comes to it. Watch for the first crescent after each new moon — the evenings it can be seen from where you are, judged by Yallop's method, on a western sky at dusk you can move through minute by minute — turn the Earth under the Moon's orbit to see which phases are up at which hours, and practise reading a phase from its shape and knowing when it rises.
