The card

The Queen of Pentacles is one of the four court cards of Pentacles, the suit of Earth: money, work and the body.

In the Golden Dawn's scheme each court card is an element within its suit's element: the Queen of Pentacles is Water of Earth.

In Aleister Crowley's Thoth tarot: The Queen of Disks. Crowley's courts are Knight, Queen, Prince and Princess, so this is the card the Rider–Waite–Smith deck calls the Queen.

In Waite's words

Arthur Edward Waite designed the deck that Pamela Colman Smith drew, and explained it in The Pictorial Key to the Tarot (1911). His text, with his spelling:

The face suggests that of a dark woman, whose qualities might be summed up in the idea of greatness of soul; she has also the serious cast of intelligence; she contemplates her symbol and may see worlds therein. DIVINATORY MEANINGS Opulence, generosity, magnificence, security, liberty. REVERSED Evil, suspicion, suspense, fear, mistrust.

FURTHER MEANINGS Dark woman; presents from a rich relative; rich and happy marriage for a young man. REVERSED An illness.
