The Thoth Tarot
Crowley and Frieda Harris's five-year deck, the renamed trumps, the swap of the Star and the Emperor, and how to read it beside the Rider–Waite–Smith.
Crowley meant to spend six months updating the Tarot. It took five years. Between 1938 and 1943 the painter Lady Frieda Harris worked under his direction, repainting many cards again and again as his instructions changed, and in 1944 he published The Book of Thoth — volume III, number 5, of his Equinox — as the deck's commentary. It is the most influential deck of the twentieth century after the Rider–Waite–Smith, and the one closest to the Golden Dawn's secret teaching.
